Ben Moon

Ben Moon is a storyteller. As an adventure filmmaker, photographer, and creative producer, he has been a cornerstone of the surf, climbing, and outdoor communities for decades. 

More at home in the wilderness than in the city, Ben’s connection to nature intensified in his late twenties after he was faced with – and won – a battle with colorectal cancer. This life-altering experience fused his passion for the outdoors with a profound desire to capture stories that resonate on a deeply human level. For over 23 years, he has shot for Patagonia, where his ability to find the beauty in the harshest environments has distinguished him not only as a photographer with a sharp eye but also one with a compassionate soul.

In 2015, Ben expanded his creative horizons by founding Moonhouse Studios, a commercial production company dedicated to bringing impactful stories to life. That same year, Ben wrote and directed the critically acclaimed short film Denali, a deeply personal project chronicling his battle with cancer and the unwavering bond with his dog, Denali. The film became a viral sensation, amassing over 14 million views on Vimeo.

Ben expanded on this heartfelt story in his memoir, Denali: A Man, A Dog, and the Friendship of a Lifetime, cementing his reputation as a storyteller who captures life’s most poignant connections. Today, Ben continues to create visually arresting and emotionally resonant stories for both creative clients and brands such as Rivian, Patagonia, Yeti, Sony, Adidas, and Subaru.

Ben’s art is infused with warmth and sincerity, speaking directly to the heart. His emotional depth transcends boundaries, making his stories not just seen but deeply felt. When not working, Ben resides on the Oregon coast, where he has built his own home and continues to find inspiration in the natural world.
