Neilson Powless
Cyclist

Tenaciously chasing victory.
Neilson Powless is one of the most successful American cyclists of his generation. As the first tribally recognized Native North American to race in the Tour de France, he is celebrated for breaking barriers and setting new records.
Cycling is in Neilson’s blood. Born and raised in Roseville, CA, to triathlete parents, he grew up alongside his sister Shayna, a fellow professional cyclist. Immersed in a close-knit family of athletes, Neilson learned early on the importance of dedication, legacy, and sacrifice. With a strong support system, he pushed himself harder and faster through his early years of training.
That push paid off. In 2018, Neilson made his debut on the professional cycling scene with LottoNL–Jumbo. By 2020, he had earned a spot on the Tour de France start list, continuing to qualify every year since. His victories span the globe, including Dwaars door Vlanderen, the Japan Cup, Clásica San Sebastián, Grand Prix Marseille, and Etoile de Bessèges. Whether racing as an individual or as part of a team, Neilson consistently proves himself as a dynamic competitor, driven by a passion for healthy competition.
But Neilson’s story is only beginning. For three consecutive years, he has held the title of the highest-ranked American cyclist. He uses his platform to promote youth development in cycling and to advocate for greater inclusion in the sport. Motivated by his love of family and a deep connection to his heritage, Neilson continues racing into the future—chasing success at full speed ahead.
