“In the end, I’m not proving to the world that I’m some great athlete. I’m proving to the world that I’m a builder of teams.” - Jason

Jason Caldwell

Jason is an elite adventure athlete with numerous World Records spanning both oceans and deserts.  He uses lessons learned during his incredible pursuits to teach others what it takes to be a leader in business.

After rowing through university, Jason was invited to join the legendary Vesper Boat Club’s elite rowing team in Philadelphia. There, he won two gold medals, one silver, and a bronze at the National Championships. In 2015 Jason went on to captain and represent the United States in a 3,000 mile rowing race across the Atlantic Ocean. Despite a dramatic and treacherous 51 day row, including an emergency evacuation of two team members, Jason led his remaining crew to the finish line in Antigua finishing 11th, resulting in the American Record for the fastest U.S. four to ever cross the Atlantic. One year later, he recruited a new team to re-enter the race. On January 19, 2017, Jason and his crew crossed the finish line in first place, setting the World Record as the fastest team to ever row across the Atlantic Ocean. For an inspiring look at his experience, see the feature documentary starring Jason called Chasing.

In 2021, Jason led another boat in the Great Pacific Race: San Francisco to Hawaii, 2400 nautical miles open ocean rowing. The four men smashed the World Record, landing themselves in the Guiness Book with their final time of 30 days, 8 hours, and 30 minutes. The team work, physical strength, and mental tenacity it takes to accomplish a feat like this is staggering to think about.

Today, Jason is the president and owner of Latitude 35 Leadership, a company that uses outdoor experiential training to explore the art of leading and maintaining high performance teams. He has worked with leaders in over thirty Fortune 500 companies, and has taught at top business schools around the world, including Wharton, Darden, Emory, Columbia School of Business, and West Point Academy’s Thayer Leadership Development Group. When he’s not rowing or teaching, Jason spends time with his wife and son in the San Francisco Bay Area where he was born and raised.
